Accommodations at Knockahopple

When you stay at Knockahopple Cottage, you are staying in my home. You are encouraged to spend time with a book by the fire, wake up as early or as late as you please, take a stroll down the road...basically, you are free to enjoy yourself.

I don’t book more that one group in the cottage at a time, so once you arrive, you and your travel companions are the only people in the guest quarters (when booked for B&B accommodations, I stay in my area upstairs).

The cottage is fully-equipped for guests, so it’s not necessary to pack your own hair dryer or bathrobe. In fact, most guests note there are more amenities than most hotels, yet the place still maintains a tidy, lived-in feel.

Self-Catering Accommodations
You may choose to rent Knockahopple Cottage as a self-catering unit. This means you rent the entire home and provide your own meals. This allows you the unique experience of living in an Irish cottage as if it were your own.

In addition to the regular furnishings and kitchen accessories, items such as bed linens, towels and a bundle of turf or coal for the fires are provided. You receive a packet of information with everything you need to know about the cottage, from how to open the front door to how to build a fire.

A one-week minimum stay is required for self-catering rentals.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodations
If you are looking for a more full-service experience, staying at Knockahopple as a Bed and Breakfast might be right up your alley.

Each morning begins with freshly brewed tea and coffee waiting for you in the hall outside your room. You are then treated to a hearty breakfast that includes a traditional Irish fry with eggs, rashers (ham/bacon), puddings (sausage) and fried tomatoes. Other breakfast menus are also available, and fruit, toast and cereal are set out at every breakfast.

Depending on your travel schedule, an afternoon tea or evening drink is also available. Both include a snack and your choice of tea, coffee, soda or an evening cocktail.

There are several ways that the premier B&B experience at Knockahopple Cottage differs from staying at other Irish B&Bs:

• You and your companions are the only guests in the house. I do not double-book Knockahopple cottage.
• You have the ultimate control over your schedule. You are welcome to come and go as you please, and there are no times the cottage is “off limits” to guests.
• You are welcome to enjoy some of the many books and CDs stowed in the sitting room and hallway.
• A hot cup of tea is always available.
• You are welcome to enjoy a complimentary evening drink and snacks (and this isn’t a small biscuit and tepid cuppa either)...it is unlikely you will find another B&B that offers this service.
• Bed and Breakfast accommodations are available by prior arrangement only, and a minimum stay of ten days is required.

Knockahopple Cottage has been refurbished with a sensitive blend of modern conveniences and traditional decorating.

The Kitchen and Working Kitchen
The kitchen offers a comfortable sitting area with hillside views and a fireplace. Separated from the kitchen by a half-door, the working kitchen has been updated with a refrigerator and stove.

The Sittingroom
The cozy sittingroom has its own turf-burning fireplace and provides a quiet place for relaxing. It can also serve as an extra bedroom.

The Bedrooms
Both bedrooms offer beautiful views of the Tipperary Hillside. One bedroom has a double bed with a chest of drawers for storage; the other has two twin beds and a dresser for storage.

The Bathroom
The bathroom has been equipped with modern fixtures, including an instant-heat shower system. Fresh towels and linens are provided.
