Frequently Asked Questions..

.

Having reviewed my web site, I hope I have sparked your interest enough to consider spending a vacation at Knockahopple Cottage sometime soon! On this page you will find a collection of answers to frequently asked questions.

What is the best time of year to visit Ireland?
It really depends what you are looking for in a vacation. If you would like the best chance of sun and warm weather, then June, July and August are the best months. However, Irelands mild climate allows activities like golf, fishing, walking and hiking etc., to be enjoyed almost year-round. April, May, September and October all offer favorable weather and fewer tourists. Just realize that rain can be in the forecast any time of year.

Do you have availability for this summer?
Generally, I try to have my bookings roughed out in early December. Final bookings are made by February 1, and a 25% deposit is due on March 1.  However, if I still have dates available, I would be happy to accommodate you and your group.

How many people can I bring?
Knockahopple Cottage is perfectly equipped for four guests. However, if you have a slightly larger group, feel free to contact me to discuss some options. I am currently building an addition which will provide room for more people.

When will your addition get done?
The walls are up, and the roof went up last summer. If everything goes according to plan, it will be ready for guests by 2008.

Can I bring my bicycle?
Absolutely, many people enjoy biking holidays in Ireland. Knockahopple Cottage is located on the scenic Keeper Cycle route.

What is the prevalent language spoken in Ireland?
English is spoken throughout Ireland, however there are some "Gaeltacht" regions, primarily in Galway, Donegal and the Dingle Peninsula, where the traditional Irish language has been maintained (don't worry, they also speak English).

If I choose to drive to Knockahopple, how will I find the cottage, and who will meet me there?
Prior to your departure, I will provide you with complete driving instructions. Arrangements regarding your anticipated arrival time will be made before you arrive.

I'm looking at staying at the cottage for two or three nights. What is your minimum length of stay?
Because I only rent the cottage to one group at a time, a minimum of one-week is required for self-catering and ten days for bed and breakfast accommodations.

Can I stay more than one week?
Absolutely. Your arrival and departure date can be accommodated based on availability.

In the event of medical emergency, what care facilities are available, and how far away are they?
Nenagh, which is a five miles from Knockahopple Cottage, has a hospital.

I noticed your rates are published in US dollars, why is that?
Most of my guests are from the United States, so I have found it is easiest to publish the rates in US dollars.

What forms of payment are accepted?
I accept cashiers checks, personal checks and bank drafts as forms of payment.

Where can I purchase groceries nearby?
The village of Nenagh has a variety of grocery, bakery and butcher shops. For basic groceries, you can stop at the convenience store in nearby Dolla.

What side of the road do you drive on in Ireland?
On the left!
